Water
It is generally safe to drink tap water in Madeira. The water supply is subject to quality
controls and meets European Union standards.
However, some people may prefer the taste of bottled water due to differences in mineral content or
the presence of chlorine, which is used in water treatment.
Rubish Disposal
You should dispose of any rubbish in the large communal bins. These can be found just down the road. The green one is for glass bottles, and the black one is for general waste. If you wish to recycle paper and plastic, more bins are available next to Snack Bar Atouguia (where you pick up the keys).
